Papers of Annie F. Johnston [manuscript], 1897-1913.

The collection contains the manuscript of a poem "Joy of age." In her correspondence she explains problems preventing her usual reading and writing including the illness of her son, John, who was the inspiration for "The jester's sword." She discusses "The Beeches," the Pewee Valley, Kentucky, home of General Lawton's family which is mentioned in many of her stories; provides new photographs for publication purposes; sends wedding wishes; and conveys family news. There are also twenty illustrations for her book "Two little knights of Kentucky." Correspondents include Louise J. Gaffney and Mrs. Paul Augustine McQuaid.
